In Ireland, for an e-bike to be treated like a regular bicycle (no registration, licence or tax), it must have a maximum continuous rated power of ≤ 250W, pedal assist only (no full motor-drive without pedalling), and motor assistance must cut off at 25 km/h. You also need front & rear lights when riding in the dark.

Ranges vary depending on battery size, terrain, rider weight, and how much assist you use. For example, the Fiido T1 Pro model comes with a large battery (~998.4Wh) and claims up to 93 miles (≈150 km) under ideal conditions. For mixed urban + gravel use, expect somewhat less.

Many Fiido models include throttle-capable motors. However, under Irish rules, e-bikes that exceed the 25 km/h assist limit or use throttle in unlawful ways may be reclassified (or be in breach of local laws). It’s best to check the specific model’s settings and, if needed, disable or restrict the throttle to ensure compliance.

Fiido e-bikes tend to offer a mix of features:

• Removable batteries (makes charging easier)

• Hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power in mixed conditions

• Fat tyres or higher torque motors on long-range / cargo/off-road lines (for comfort, grip, and handling bumps)

• Folding or compact designs on some models to help with storage / public transport if commuting.

Tips include:

• Avoid full discharges and try to keep battery charge between approx. 20-80% whenever possible

• Store battery in a cool, dry place (not exposed to direct heat or cold)

• Use the correct charger supplied with your bike

• Keep tyre pressure optimal (low pressure increases rolling resistance and drains battery faster)

• Reduce use of throttle or high assist levels except where necessary (hills / heavy load)
